Behind the Method: How We Built the DESIGNERINGREEN Home Well-Being Checklist

The Story Behind the DESIGNERINGREEN Method

The DESIGNERINGREEN Method Home Well-Being Design Checklist did not begin as a product. It began with a question we heard repeatedly from clients:

“Where do I even begin?”

Many people wanted a healthier, more sustainable home, but the amount of advice available online felt overwhelming, fragmented, and often contradictory. The checklist was created to provide a clear and practical starting point.

  1. It Began With a Pattern We Kept Seeing

Consultation after consultation, the same pattern emerged. People were not lacking motivation. They were lacking a simple, manageable way to begin, especially one that did not require a renovation budget, professional design experience, or major lifestyle changes.

  1. We Organized It Around the Way People Actually Live

Instead of separating recommendations into broad categories such as air quality, lighting, materials, and organization, we structured the checklist room by room.

This approach reflects how people naturally move through and experience their homes. It also makes the recommendations easier to understand, prioritize, and apply in an order that works for each household.

  1. Every Recommendation Had to Be Practical

Each item was evaluated using one simple question:

Could someone realistically complete this without hiring a contractor or spending a significant amount of money?

Master bathroom design board with floor plans, vanity and shower elevations, material swatches, plumbing fixtures, and 3D renderings.
@Designeringreen offers a blueprint and 3D rendering of a contemporary master bathroom, featuring a unique waterfall design above the window. The area is adorned with sophisticated fixtures and finishes, including a stylish freestanding tub and modern pendant lighting.

When the answer was no, it did not make the final version. The goal was to create a resource that felt approachable, useful, and realistic for everyday life.

  1. It Reflects Our Approach to Healthy Design

The checklist does not treat wellness, sustainability, and interior design as separate goals. Each section brings together comfort, function, health, and environmental responsibility.

In a thoughtfully designed home, these elements should support one another rather than compete.

  1. A Practical Tool Built From Real Questions

The checklist exists because so many people asked the same question in different ways:

Where should I start?

The DESIGNERINGREEN Method Home Well-Being Design Checklist is our answer, organized room by room and designed to help you make meaningful changes one step at a time.
